Renault Car Finance Claim — PCP & HP Compensation 2026
Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.
If you financed a Renault vehicle between April 2007 and November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Renault finance in the UK is provided by RCI Financial Services Ltd — the same lender that operates Nissan Financial Services and Dacia Finance — and falls within the full scope of PS26/3. Average payout: £829.

If your finance agreement names RCI Financial Services, Renault Finance, or Renault Financial Services, all refer to the same lender. Your complaint goes to RCI Financial Services Ltd in every case.
Is Renault Finance Covered by the FCA Redress Scheme?
Yes. RCI Financial Services Ltd is an FCA-regulated lender and all PCP and HP agreements it arranged through franchised Renault dealerships between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 are within scope of the FCA motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, confirmed 30 March 2026). The complaint deadline is 31 August 2027.
Three Grounds for a Renault Car Finance Claim
1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCAs)
Renault dealerships arranging finance through RCI Financial Services prior to 28 January 2021 could vary the interest rate within a lender-defined range, earning more commission the higher the rate set. Where this was not disclosed to you at the time of the agreement, you are eligible for compensation under the DCA ground. See: What Is a DCA?
2. Unfairly High Fixed Commission
Post-January 2021 agreements may qualify where the fixed commission paid by RCI Financial Services to the dealer met the FCA threshold of 39% of total cost of credit and 10% of the loan amount. This ground applies to agreements across the full eligible period up to November 2024.
3. Alliance Finance Shared Infrastructure
RCI Financial Services operated across Renault, Nissan and Dacia under the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Commission structures and rate-setting policies were shared across the alliance dealer network, meaning similar DCA practices applied across all three brands during the eligible period.
Renault Electric Vehicle Agreements
Renault has been one of the UK’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers since the launch of the Zoe in 2012. PCP and HP agreements for the Renault Zoe, Megane E-Tech, and other electric models are within the scheme alongside conventional fuel agreements, provided they fall within the eligible period and were arranged through the franchised dealer network.
How Much Could You Receive?
The FCA confirmed average payout is £829 per eligible agreement. Your amount is calculated using the hybrid remedy: averaging your estimated interest overpayment (17% APR reduction for post-April 2014 agreements, 21% for pre-April 2014 agreements) and the commission paid, plus compensatory interest at Bank of England base rate plus 1% per year from the date of each overpayment. Use our car finance claims calculator to estimate your payout. If you had finance agreements on both a Renault and a Nissan or Dacia through the same lender, each agreement is a separate claim — see: Multiple Car Finance Agreements.
Scheme Timetable (Original Dates, Now Suspended)
Post-April 2014 agreements: Complain before 30 June 2026 → RCI Financial Services must respond by 30 September 2026 → payment by November 2026
Pre-April 2014 agreements: Complain before 31 August 2026 → decision by 30 November 2026 → payment by January 2027
Final complaint deadline: 31 August 2027
Complaining now remains free and puts your complaint on record whatever the legal challenges decide. While the suspension stands, no payment under the scheme is guaranteed and no payment date can be promised.

Frequently Asked Questions
My paperwork says RCI Financial Services, not Renault Finance. Are they the same?
Yes. RCI Financial Services Ltd is the legal entity behind Renault Finance in the UK. Both names refer to the same lender. Your agreement is within the scheme regardless of which name appears on your paperwork.
I financed a Dacia through the same finance company. Can I claim for that too?
Yes. Dacia finance in the UK is also provided by RCI Financial Services Ltd. If you have an eligible Dacia agreement within the April 2007 to November 2024 window, you can claim for that independently of your Renault claim.
I financed a Renault after January 2021. Am I eligible?
Yes. The FCA scheme covers agreements up to 1 November 2024. The January 2021 date refers only to when Discretionary Commission Arrangements were banned — but the scheme also covers unfairly high fixed commission on post-January 2021 agreements. Do not assume you are ineligible because your agreement is more recent.
I previously complained to Renault Finance and was rejected. Can I re-submit?
Yes. Many early rejections only addressed the DCA question. The scheme now covers three grounds — DCA, unfairly high commission, and contractual ties. Re-submit under all three. See: Car Finance Claim Rejected — What to Do.
The Renault dealership where I bought my car has closed. Does that affect my claim?
No. Your claim is against the lender — RCI Financial Services Ltd — not the dealership. The dealership closure does not affect your eligibility or the claims process.
Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?
The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
