Toyota Car Finance Claim — PCP & HP Compensation 2026

Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.

If you financed a Toyota vehicle between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Toyota finance in the UK is provided by Toyota Financial Services (UK) PLC — the captive finance arm of Toyota Motor Corporation in the UK. Average payout: £829.

Who Provides Toyota Car Finance?

Toyota Financial Services (UK) PLC is the dedicated finance entity for Toyota and Lexus vehicles in the UK. It provides PCP and HP agreements through the franchised Toyota dealer network. If your agreement paperwork names Toyota Financial Services, TFS, or Toyota Finance, all refer to the same FCA-regulated lender. Your complaint goes to Toyota Financial Services (UK) PLC.

Is Toyota Financial Services Covered by PS26/3?

Yes. Toyota Financial Services (UK) PLC is FCA-regulated and all regulated PCP and HP agreements it arranged through franchised Toyota dealerships between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 are within scope of PS26/3. The complaint deadline is 31 August 2027.

Three Grounds for a Toyota Finance Claim

1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCAs)

Prior to 28 January 2021, Toyota dealers arranging finance through Toyota Financial Services could vary the interest rate within a lender-defined range. Where this was not disclosed, you are entitled to compensation.

2. Unfairly High Fixed Commission

Post-January 2021 agreements may qualify where the fixed commission met the FCA threshold of 39% of the total cost of credit and 10% of the loan amount.

3. Contractual Ties

As a manufacturer-captive lender, the Toyota/TFS brand association may engage the contractual tie exclusion for that specific ground. DCA and unfairly high commission grounds apply fully.

Toyota Models Covered

All Toyota models financed on PCP or HP through franchised UK dealers between April 2007 and November 2024 are covered, including: Yaris, Corolla, Camry, RAV4, C-HR, Prius, Land Cruiser, Hilux, Aygo, Auris, Avensis, Verso and all hybrid and electric variants. Both new and used Toyota vehicles are within scope.

Toyota Hybrid Vehicles

Toyota is the UK’s leading hybrid manufacturer. PCP and HP agreements for all Toyota hybrid models — including the Prius, Yaris Hybrid, Corolla Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid and C-HR Hybrid — are within scope of PS26/3 alongside conventional fuel models.

What If My Lender Goes Bust?

Frequently Asked Questions

My Toyota agreement says TFS not Toyota Financial Services. Are they the same?

Yes. TFS is the abbreviation for Toyota Financial Services (UK) PLC. Your complaint goes to the same entity.

I also have a Lexus on finance. Can I claim for both?

Yes. Lexus finance is also provided by Toyota Financial Services. See: Lexus Car Finance Claims and Multiple Car Finance Agreements

I financed a Toyota hybrid. Is the hybrid element excluded?

No. The PS26/3 scheme covers all vehicle types including hybrid and electric vehicles financed on regulated PCP or HP. The powertrain type is irrelevant to eligibility.

I financed a Toyota after January 2021. Am I eligible?

Yes. PS26/3 covers agreements up to November 2024 under the unfairly high fixed commission ground.

Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?

The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
