Vauxhall Car Finance Claim — PCP & HP Compensation 2026
Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.
If you financed a Vauxhall vehicle between April 2007 and November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Vauxhall finance in the UK is provided by Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd — previously operating as Vauxhall Finance and GMAC. Stellantis has provisioned £37 million for PS26/3 redress. Average payout: £829.
Who Provides Vauxhall Car Finance?
Vauxhall finance in the UK has operated under several names over the eligible period:
- GMAC UK PLC — operated as General Motors’ finance arm in the UK, covering Vauxhall agreements from approximately 2007 to 2010
- Vauxhall Finance PLC — operated as the dedicated Vauxhall finance entity from approximately 2010 onwards
- Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd — the current entity following the 2023 consolidation
For PS26/3 purposes, whether your agreement names GMAC, Vauxhall Finance, or Stellantis Financial Services, all are covered under the same PS26/3 obligations. Your complaint goes to Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd.
Is Vauxhall Finance Covered by PS26/3?
Yes. All regulated PCP and HP agreements arranged through franchised Vauxhall dealerships between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 are within scope of PS26/3. Vauxhall is one of the UK’s highest-volume car brands, meaning the number of eligible agreements is substantial.
Three Grounds for a Vauxhall Finance Claim
1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCAs)
Prior to 28 January 2021, Vauxhall dealers arranging finance through Vauxhall Finance / GMAC could vary the interest rate within a lender-defined range. Where this was not disclosed, you are eligible for compensation.
2. Unfairly High Fixed Commission
Post-January 2021 agreements may qualify where the fixed commission met the FCA threshold of 39% of the total cost of credit and 10% of the loan amount.
3. Contractual Ties
The contractual tie exclusion applies where the lender and dealer share a visible brand association. DCA and unfairly high commission grounds apply fully to Vauxhall agreements.
Vauxhall Models Covered
All Vauxhall models financed on PCP or HP through franchised UK dealers between April 2007 and November 2024 are covered, including: Corsa, Astra, Insignia, Mokka, Crossland, Grandland, Zafira, Meriva, Antara, Adam and Vivaro. Both new and used Vauxhall vehicles are within scope. Vauxhall is one of the most commonly driven cars in the UK — the volume of eligible agreements is very high.

Scheme Timetable (Original Dates, Now Suspended)
Post-April 2014 agreements: Complain before 30 June 2026 → lender must respond by 30 September 2026 → payment by November 2026
Pre-April 2014 agreements: Complain before 31 August 2026 → decision by 30 November 2026 → payment by January 2027
Final complaint deadline: 31 August 2027
Under the original timetable, complaining before 30 June 2026 placed you in the earliest payment cohort. Those dates are suspended; complaining is still free and puts your complaint on record, but no payment under the scheme is guaranteed while the suspension stands.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Vauxhall agreement says GMAC. Who do I complain to?
GMAC UK PLC was the predecessor entity. For PS26/3 purposes your complaint goes to Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd. Use the FCA’s lender list to confirm the current complaint address.
I financed a Vauxhall Corsa on PCP in 2009. Am I eligible?
Yes. The eligible period starts 6 April 2007 and your 2009 agreement is within scope. Older agreements produce larger compensatory interest payments because interest accrues from the date of overpayment.
I financed a Vauxhall after January 2021. Am I eligible?
Yes. PS26/3 covers agreements up to November 2024 under the unfairly high fixed commission ground.
Vauxhall is now owned by Stellantis. Does the ownership change affect my claim?
No. The obligation to pay PS26/3 redress sits with Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd regardless of corporate ownership changes. The lender entity continues to operate and is responsible for all eligible agreements.
Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?
The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
