Nissan Car Finance Claim — PCP & HP Compensation 2026

Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.

If you financed a Nissan vehicle between April 2007 and November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Nissan Financial Services UK, the captive finance arm of Nissan Motor GB Ltd, provided PCP and HP agreements through the franchised Nissan dealer network and falls within the scope of PS26/3.

Who Provides Nissan Car Finance?

Nissan Financial Services UK is operated by RCI Financial Services Ltd — a subsidiary of RCI Banque, the financial services arm of the Renault Group (which includes Renault, Nissan and Dacia under the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance). In the UK, RCI Financial Services Ltd provides finance for Renault, Nissan and Dacia vehicles through the same entity, with different brand trading names. If your agreement names Nissan Financial Services or RCI Financial Services, both refer to the same lender.

Is Nissan Financial Services Covered by the FCA Scheme?

Three Grounds for a Nissan Car Finance Claim

1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements

Nissan dealerships arranging finance through RCI Financial Services prior to 28 January 2021 could vary the interest rate within a lender-defined range, earning more commission the higher the rate set. Where this was not disclosed, you are eligible for compensation.

What Is a DCA?

2. Unfairly High Fixed Commission

Post-January 2021 agreements may qualify where the fixed commission met the FCA threshold of 39% of total cost of credit and 10% of loan amount.

3. Alliance Finance Shared Infrastructure

RCI Financial Services operated across multiple brands under the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Commission structures and rate-setting policies were shared across the alliance network, meaning similar DCA practices applied across Renault, Nissan and Dacia dealerships during the eligible period.

Nissan EV Agreements

Nissan was a pioneer of mass-market electric vehicles in the UK with the Leaf, launched in 2011. PCP and HP agreements for the Nissan Leaf, Ariya and e-NV200 are within the scheme alongside conventional fuel agreements, provided they fall within the eligible period and were arranged through the franchised network.

How Much Could You Receive?

The FCA confirmed average payout is £829 per eligible agreement. Your amount uses the hybrid remedy: averaging your interest overpayment estimate (17% APR reduction for post-April 2014, 21% for pre-April 2014) and the commission paid, plus compensatory interest at Bank of England base rate plus 1% per year.

Frequently Asked Questions

My paperwork says RCI Financial Services, not Nissan Financial Services. Are they the same?

Yes. RCI Financial Services Ltd is the legal entity behind Nissan Financial Services in the UK. Both names refer to the same lender. Your agreement is within the scheme regardless of which name appears.

I financed a Dacia through the same finance company. Can I claim for that too?

Yes. Dacia finance in the UK is also provided by RCI Financial Services. If you have an eligible Dacia agreement in the April 2007 to November 2024 window, you can claim for that independently of your Nissan claim.

My Nissan Leaf was partly subsidised by a government grant. Does that affect my claim?

No. Government grants or incentives that reduced the purchase price of the vehicle do not affect your eligibility under the motor finance redress scheme. The claim concerns the commission arrangement on the finance agreement, not the vehicle purchase price.

Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?

The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
