Alfa Romeo Car Finance Claim — PCP & HP Compensation 2026
Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.
If you financed an Alfa Romeo vehicle between April 2007 and November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Alfa Romeo Financial Services operated as part of the Stellantis Financial Services group in the UK — the same entity covering Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, Vauxhall and DS. Stellantis has set aside £37 million in provisions for motor finance redress, acknowledging its scheme exposure across all its brands.

Who Provides Alfa Romeo Car Finance?
Alfa Romeo Financial Services is a trading name of Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd — the captive finance arm of the Stellantis group. Prior to the Stellantis merger in 2021, Alfa Romeo finance operated under the FCA Auto or FCA Bank branding (FCA standing for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, not the Financial Conduct Authority). If your agreement names Alfa Romeo Financial Services, FCA Auto, FCA Bank or Stellantis Financial Services as the lender, all refer to the same group entity for the purposes of your complaint.
Alfa Romeo is a premium Italian brand with a dedicated enthusiast following in the UK, with the Giulietta, Giulia, Stelvio and MiTo among the most commonly financed models in the eligible period. Alfa Romeo vehicles tend to carry mid-to-premium price points, meaning commission payments and potential compensation amounts are often above the national average.

Is Alfa Romeo Financial Services Covered by the FCA Scheme?
Yes. All FCA-regulated PCP and HP agreements arranged through Alfa Romeo Financial Services / Stellantis Financial Services between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 are within PS26/3. The complaint deadline is 31 August 2027. Stellantis Financial Services has confirmed it is reviewing its obligations under the scheme.
FCA Auto and FCA Bank — the Pre-Stellantis Finance Entity
Before the Stellantis merger in January 2021, Alfa Romeo finance in the UK was provided under FCA Auto or FCA Bank branding — short for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Bank, the finance arm of the pre-merger Fiat Chrysler group. This naming causes confusion because the acronym FCA also refers to the Financial Conduct Authority. The finance company FCA Auto / FCA Bank is entirely separate from the regulator. If your pre-2021 Alfa Romeo finance agreement names FCA Auto or FCA Bank as the lender, your complaint should be submitted to Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd as the successor entity.
Three Grounds for an Alfa Romeo Car Finance Claim
1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements
Alfa Romeo dealerships arranging finance through FCA Auto / Stellantis Financial Services prior to 28 January 2021 could set your interest rate within a lender-defined range, earning more commission the higher the rate. Where this was not disclosed to you at the point of sale, you are eligible for compensation under PS26/3.
2. Unfairly High Fixed Commission
Post-January 2021 agreements may qualify where the fixed commission met the FCA threshold of 39% of total cost of credit and 10% of loan amount. For Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio agreements — mid-premium vehicles with substantial loan amounts — this threshold is frequently met.
3. Italian Brand Dealer Network Commission Culture
Alfa Romeo operates through a smaller, more specialist dealer network than volume brands. During the 2007-2021 period, Alfa Romeo dealers relied heavily on finance commission income as a revenue stream given lower overall vehicle sales volumes compared to Ford or Volkswagen. This financial dependency made commission-driven rate setting more prevalent in Alfa Romeo agreements and less likely to be challenged by customers who had made an emotional brand choice. Where commission arrangements were not disclosed, this creates valid grounds for a claim.
Alfa Romeo Model Coverage
All Alfa Romeo passenger cars financed through Alfa Romeo Financial Services / FCA Auto in the eligible period are covered, including the Giulietta (2010-2020), MiTo (2008-2018), Giulia (2016-present), Stelvio (2017-present), Brera, Spider and 147 and 156 models from the earlier part of the eligible period. The Alfa Romeo Tonale and Alfa Romeo Junior EVs launched after 2022 are within scope only for agreements that started before 1 November 2024.
How Much Could You Receive?
The FCA confirmed average payout is £829 per eligible agreement. For Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio agreements — with larger loan amounts — payouts above the national average are common. Your amount uses the hybrid remedy: averaging your estimated interest overpayment (17% APR reduction for post-April 2014 agreements, 21% for pre-April 2014) and the commission paid by Alfa Romeo Financial Services to the dealer, plus compensatory interest at Bank of England base rate plus 1% per year.
Scheme Timetable (Original Dates, Now Suspended)

Pre-April 2014 agreements: Complain before 31 August 2026 → Decision by 30 November 2026 → Payment by January 2027
Final complaint deadline: 31 August 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
My agreement says FCA Auto, not Alfa Romeo Financial Services. Who do I complain to?
FCA Auto (short for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) was the trading name used before the Stellantis merger. Submit your complaint to Stellantis Financial Services UK Ltd as the successor entity. Use the email casm@stellantis-finance.com and explain that your agreement was with FCA Auto on behalf of Alfa Romeo Financial Services.
I financed an Alfa Romeo 147 in 2008. Is that far enough back to be eligible?
Yes. The eligible period starts from 6 April 2007, so a 2008 Alfa Romeo 147 agreement is well within scope. Pre-April 2014 agreements use the higher 21% APR adjustment in the hybrid remedy calculation, which often produces a larger compensation amount than more recent agreements.
I had an Alfa Romeo and a Fiat on finance. Can I claim for both?
Yes. Each eligible agreement is assessed independently. Both your Alfa Romeo and Fiat agreements — if both fall within the April 2007 to November 2024 window — generate separate claims through the same Stellantis Financial Services entity. The total compensation from both could be significantly above the single-agreement average.
My Alfa Romeo was written off during the finance agreement. Can I still claim?
Yes. A write-off during the agreement does not affect your eligibility under the scheme. The claim relates to the commission arrangement at the start of the agreement, not the fate of the vehicle.
Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?
The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
