Shogun Finance Car Finance Claim — Mitsubishi PCP & HP Compensation 2026
Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.
If you financed a Mitsubishi vehicle through Shogun Finance Limited between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Shogun Finance Limited was the captive finance arm for Mitsubishi vehicles in the UK. It has since ceased trading following Mitsubishi’s exit from the UK new car market in 2021 — but your right to claim compensation under PS26/3 is not affected by Shogun Finance ceasing to trade. Average payout: £829.
Who Was Shogun Finance?
Shogun Finance Limited was the manufacturer-captive finance entity for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, providing PCP and HP agreements through franchised Mitsubishi dealerships. When Mitsubishi Motors announced it was ceasing sales of new passenger cars in the UK in 2021, Shogun Finance subsequently ceased writing new business. The FCA’s PS26/3 redress scheme covers agreements arranged by Shogun Finance during the eligible period regardless of whether the lender is still actively trading.
Shogun Finance Has Ceased Trading — Can I Still Claim?
Yes. The FCA’s PS26/3 scheme covers agreements arranged by lenders during the eligible period. A lender ceasing to trade does not extinguish its PS26/3 obligations — the obligations are assumed by the entity or its successor. Check the FCA’s official lender list at fca.org.uk/consumers/car-finance-complaints/list-lenders for the current complaint contact for Shogun Finance Limited. If Shogun Finance has entered any form of administration, your claim may become an unsecured creditor claim in the insolvency estate. See: What If My Lender Goes Bust? →
Is Shogun Finance Covered by PS26/3?
Yes. Shogun Finance Limited is listed as a participating lender under PS26/3. All regulated PCP and HP agreements it arranged through franchised Mitsubishi dealerships between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 are within scope. The complaint deadline is 31 August 2027.
Three Grounds for a Shogun Finance Claim
1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCAs)
Prior to 28 January 2021, Mitsubishi dealers arranging finance through Shogun Finance could vary the interest rate within a lender-defined range. Where this was not disclosed, you are entitled to compensation.
2. Unfairly High Fixed Commission
Post-January 2021 agreements may qualify where the fixed commission met the FCA threshold of 39% of the total cost of credit and 10% of the loan amount.
3. Contractual Ties
As a manufacturer-captive lender sharing the Mitsubishi brand with its dealer network, the contractual tie exclusion may apply. DCA and unfairly high commission grounds apply fully.
Mitsubishi Models Covered
All Mitsubishi models financed through Shogun Finance on PCP or HP between April 2007 and November 2024 are covered, including: Outlander, Outlander PHEV, Eclipse Cross, ASX, L200, Shogun, Colt and Lancer.
Scheme Timetable (Original Dates, Now Suspended)

Frequently Asked Questions
Shogun Finance has stopped trading. Is my claim still valid?
Yes. PS26/3 obligations do not disappear when a lender stops trading. Check the FCA lender list for the current complaint route. If Shogun Finance is in administration, seek advice about the insolvency process.
My Mitsubishi was financed through a different entity, not Shogun Finance. What do I do?
Some Mitsubishi agreements were arranged through RCI Financial Services rather than Shogun Finance. Check your original agreement. See: Mitsubishi Car Finance Claims
Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?
The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
