Go Car Credit Car Finance Claim — PCP & HP Compensation 2026
Scheme status (updated 5 August 2026): parts of the FCA motor finance redress scheme are temporarily suspended while the Upper Tribunal considers legal challenges. Lenders do not currently have to calculate or pay compensation under the scheme, the original decision and payment dates no longer apply, and no payment under the scheme is guaranteed. If the scheme proceeds, first payments are expected in 2027 at the earliest. Any dates mentioned below were set before the suspension.
If you financed a vehicle through Go Car Credit between April 2007 and November 2024, you may be entitled to compensation under the FCA confirmed motor finance redress scheme (PS26/3, 30 March 2026). Go Car Credit is a specialist non-prime motor finance broker and lender that arranged agreements for customers who may not have qualified for mainstream lending. This guide explains your eligibility, how compensation is calculated and how to complain.
Who Is Go Car Credit?
Go Car Credit Ltd is a UK-based specialist motor finance provider focused on customers with adverse credit histories or limited credit profiles. It operates through a network of independent and franchised car dealers, arranging PCP and HP finance on behalf of customers who are typically declined by high street lenders. Go Car Credit is FCA-authorised and its agreements in the eligible period fall within the scope of PS26/3.
The non-prime and near-prime segment in which Go Car Credit operates has been a significant focus of the FCA review precisely because customers with fewer borrowing options were less likely to challenge the terms offered or seek alternative finance — creating conditions where commission-driven mis-selling was more likely to go undetected.
Is Go Car Credit Covered by the FCA Scheme?
Yes. All FCA-regulated PCP and HP agreements arranged by Go Car Credit between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 are within scope. The complaint deadline is 31 August 2027.
Three Grounds for a Go Car Credit Claim
1. Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCAs)
Go Car Credit operated primarily as a broker, matching customers with lenders. In this arrangement, the broker (Go Car Credit or the dealer) could influence the interest rate and earn higher commission as a result. If your agreement pre-dates the DCA ban of 28 January 2021 and this commission was not disclosed to you, you are eligible for compensation.
2. Broker Commission Non-Disclosure
Where Go Car Credit acted as a credit broker rather than a direct lender, it had a specific FCA obligation to disclose that it would receive a commission and to explain how that commission might affect the rate offered. Failure to do so — which was widespread in the non-prime broker market — independently supports a claim.
3. Unfairly High Fixed Commission
Even where no DCA existed, if the fixed commission earned on your agreement met the FCA threshold of at least 39% of the total cost of credit and 10% of the loan amount, this constitutes an unfairly high arrangement under PS26/3.
How Much Could You Receive?
The FCA confirmed national average payout is £829 per eligible agreement. Non-prime agreements — where interest rates were higher — often produce above-average compensation under the hybrid remedy. Your payout is calculated as the average of your estimated interest overpayment (17% APR reduction for post-April 2014 agreements, 21% for pre-April 2014) and the commission paid, plus compensatory interest at Bank of England base rate plus 1% per year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Go Car Credit arranged my finance but the lender named on my agreement is different. Who do I complain to?
If Go Car Credit acted as a broker and a separate lender funded the agreement, you may have claims against both — the lender for the DCA or high commission, and Go Car Credit as broker for failing to disclose its commission. Both can be pursued simultaneously.
I had bad credit at the time. Does that affect my claim?
No. Your credit profile does not affect eligibility under the FCA scheme. The claim relates to how the commission was structured and disclosed, not your personal financial circumstances.
Can I claim even if my agreement has ended?
Yes. Claims can be made for any eligible agreement within the date range regardless of whether it has been fully paid off, settled early, or the vehicle has been sold.

Think You May Have a Motor Finance Claim?
The FCA estimates average compensation of around £830 per eligible agreement, but eligibility and payment amounts vary. Some customers may receive nothing. Complaints about agreements started from 1 April 2014 should be submitted by 30 June 2026 to be considered under the earlier timetable. Different dates apply to older agreements. The scheme is currently subject to legal challenge, so dates and payment timings may change.
